In an attempt to boost viewership due to lower than expected ratings, CBS moved the show to 8:00 a.m. Eastern time in 1984, but it didn't help the ratings much and production was later placed on hiatus.

In 1985, CBS ordered five new episodes for what would be the second and final season for "The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show." After many weeks of reruns, it was dropped by CBS in early 1986.
