Pilot Episode[]
The pilot for "Stir Crazy" (which aired on September 18, 1985), had Polly Holliday in the role of Captain Betty and Royce D. Applegate as Crawford, but they were promptly dismissed from the roles, ostensibly because of poor testing when Syndication executives screened the pilot, & were replaced by Marc Silver & Jeannie Wilson.

While the "Stir Crazy" movie was a hit, the television version was a flop. It was pulled from the Syndication fall lineup in October of 1985 (a month after its premiere and put on hiatus.
The show returned in a new time slot in December of 1985 and a few more episodes were aired, also to low ratings. After the January 7, 1986 broadcast, Syndication permanently cancelled the show.
