Production
Development
The network received a pilot order from CBS in January 2017. In May 2017, the network was ordered the series which was name as SEAL Team. The show's creator is Benjamin Cavell. The co-executive producers and co-showrunners are Ben Cavell, Ed Redlich, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, Chris Chulack. On July 2017, CBS released a first video trailer for new series. In June 2017, the network scrapped with Chris Chulack to direct a new pilot episode. On May 22, 2018, it was reported that both Cavell and Ed Redlich were exiting their role as executive producer and showrunner, and would remain only as consultant, with John Glenn replacing them as showrunner.
Casting
It was originally cast with Jim Caviezel as the pilot series, then on March 23, 2017, from Bones, Buffy and Angel star David Boreanaz was announced will replace Jim Caviezel after he exits the role, then he will play alongside with Max Thierot, Neil Brown Jr., A.J. Buckley, Toni Trucks and Jessica Pare.
Reception
The review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes reported a 69% approval rating with an average rating of 5.75/10 based on 13 reviews. The website's critical consensus reads, "SEAL Team’s solidly written first season offers compelling characters and hints at broader potential, even if it's somewhat undermined by an overall sense of predictability." Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned a score of 57 out of 100 based on 14 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".
