Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. was a Syndication network sitcom & spin-off of "The Andy Griffith Show" that was created by Aaron Ruben which first aired on September 25, 1964. The cast featured Jim Nabors, Frank Sutton, Ronnie Schell and Allan Melvin.

The pilot episode of the series aired on May 18, 1964 as the 4th-season finale of "The Andy Griffith Show."

The show was a hit and never placed lower than tenth in the Nielsen ratings.

On May 2, 1969, the series ended after 5 seasons and 150 episode, ending its run as the second-highest-rated series in the United States.

Synopsis[]

Gomer Pyle was a sweet, but not so smart Marine from Mayberry, North Carolina who was stationed at Camp Henderson near Los Angeles, California.

Gomer's innocence, naivete and low-key demeanor often got him into trouble (most frequently at the hands of his loud-mouthed superior, Sgt. Carter).

Duke, Frankie, Lester & Larry were some of Gomer's pals and fellow enlisted men at Camp Henderson and Lou Anne Poovie was Gomer's sometimes girlfriend.
